My AAG 2014 Talk: Quantum Geographies: Applying Einsteinian Space-Time, Metaphysics and Multiverse Theory to Four-Dimensional Interpretation of Places Memorializing Tragedy

This is my AAG talk, given this past Thursday afternoon. I’m only posting the slides because I did not write a full narrative for this talk. I think readers can generally follow from the slides below, though.

It was probably too ambitious for 15 minutes, and I don’t know if I’ll ever revisit this idea again, but it was still a fun talk to give.

  1. Hi Andrew,

I hope all is well with you and that this comment reaches you.

I am very intrigued by your ideas here, especially as it relates to memorializing tragedy, death through violence, and death of young or innocent.

I live in Birmingham, AL, and I am involved in a grassroots movement to re-territorialize Birmingham through commons, re-peasantization through regenerative and cooperative urban agriculture, and creating permanently affordable housing in a time of great urban revitalization and gentrification. I am asking about trauma, land trauma, and its lingering effect on the disenfranchised community of Birmingham as a result of the bombings that took place here from 1947 to 1965, the most infamous being the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing of Sept 16, 1963, in which four young and innocent girls, and two young and innocent boys in nearby streets were killed by the KKK. Do you have any thoughts on how your ideas might help with the energetic healing that needs to happen here, or in other words, is it possible to push the reset button on a land and community that has been traumatized? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you.
