I like to play with old Apple computers; basically anything that’s woefully obsolete is what catches my eye.  I’m really into the Apple II line, partially because it holds a very nostalgic place in my heart (it was my first computer, after all).  I do, however, also play with old Macs; plus, I’ve got an old TRS-80 CoCo2, an Atari 2600 and a good ol’ Nintendo Entertainment System as well.  Read more…

I’ve also been something of a musician my entire life.  I started playing the violin at age five and the viola at age 10.  Though I also played around with the trombone, double bass, electric bass and cello, viola became my primary instrument in high school.  I was a music performance minor in college, and played with the Ball State Symphony, but eventually had to taper down my involvement because I wanted to graduate in my major.  Today, I mostly play around with my ukulele and occasionally do some computer music stuff.  Read more…

I don’t do much of anything with either of these hobbies that I’d call “serious,” but they’re enriching ways for me to pass that very spare time, however limited it might be.
